Corrine Day really hit the spot light in the early 90's when she photographed Kate Moss at age 16, The photograph was published in Vogue and created a lot of controversy at the time, people described the photo as "promoting drug use, anorexia and even pedophilia" little did Day know that this controversial shoot would make both of their careers. The look born in her photo became known as 'Heroin chic' and pretty much evolved into the look of the 90's.

Although she did not take the photos with the intent of having them received the way they were, this for me is a prime example of how one photograph really can change a persons life and some practitioners will spend their whole life trying to find that one photo, it has to be taken and published at the right time and in the right place but if it becomes that influential its worth all the time and effort.
Another thing that is highlighted by Corrine's photo is that controversy is a catalyst for publicity and what appears wrong to some is right to others, Vogue picked up on this early on and i believe that is one large factor in their success as the worlds first and top fashion magazine. It is something that i have considered throughout my time as a photographer and something that i have grown to love, I get so much more from shooting controversial topics or shooting in a place where controversy is taking over.
